Diabetic Symptoms

The Diabetes Lifestyle - Maintaining the Quality of Life

Diabetic symptoms - diabetes is a serious condition and unless treated properly can lead to blindness and can damage kidneys, liver and heart.

In the fight against diabetes it is first necessary to identify all the diabetic symptoms before a strategy to combat it can be started.

There is a lack of solid information and a lot of misinformation about resulting in diabetic symptoms often being attributed to other causes and can result in delay in effective treatment.

There are two categories of diabetes with similar symptoms - Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes and sometimes Gestational Diabetes is mentioned as a third category although its symptoms take the form of either 1 or 2 except it is temporary and only lasts the length of the pregnancy.

Both types are serious and dangerous if the symptoms are left untreated and both involve the body not being able to metabolise sugar in the bloodstream correctly for differing reasons.

Type 1 Diabetes results from the body producing no or insufficient insulin and hence the blood sugar level is elevated and insulin injections treating the symptoms of diabetes are needed to allow the transfer of the sugar out of the bloodstream.

Type 2 Diabetes mainly arises through the inability of the cells to use the insulin present to absorb the glucose from the bloodstream through the cell wall. These diabetes symptoms are usually treated by medications alone without the need for insulin injections.

The main symptoms for both types are excessive thirst, excessive need to empty the bladder, blurred vision and cuts and sores taking a long time to heal.

Despite the ever growing numbers of diabetics which is rapidly turning into an epidemic little effort is put into finding cures and most of the research goes into finding treatments for the diabetic symptoms. Of course, it has been said that the Pharmaceutical industry has no interest or desire to find a cure because in only treating diabetic symptoms they have a lifelong customer.

There are a few members of the medical profession who advocate natural treatments addressing more than the diabetic symptoms but their voices are hard to hear over the big business publicity machines.

The fight against diabetic symptoms and the diabetes disease itself currently can not be wholly won but a partial victory will ensure life can carry on with only a few food pleasures curtailed.
